We are deeply saddened to report that OA’s beloved founder, Rozanne S., passed away peacefully in January at the age of 84. Rozanne began Overeaters Anonymous in California on January 19, 1960, and fulfilled her dream that it become an international organization. We are forever grateful to her for her vision, perseverance, and love, through which so many have found recovery from compulsive eating. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. Cards may be sent in care of the World Service Office. More information can be found at OA.org. A recording of the Rozanne memorial is now available for download as an MP3. Or to play the file click Play below:
A Tribute to Rosanne by John K, LA IG Birthday, 2014
I was asked to say a few words about my friend Rozanne. I thought it would nice to tell you all something about her that you can’t find out by reading “Beyond Our Wildest Dreams” – which, by the way, you should. It’s a wonderful piece of writing, written totally by Rozanne, who was a gifted professional writer. I also think “I Put My Hand in Yours” is one of the best pieces of writing I ever read. There is also “Rozanne’s Story” in the Brown Book.
She was the loving wife of Marv, who died 1999, and the mother of two wonderful daughters and the grand-mother of three grandchildren. She loved to make sure everyone knew that her grandson was going to medical school – evidently a rare thing for a Jewish grandmother to do.

Delegates at the 2013 World Service Business Conference voted to approve the following changes to the Anonymity Statement originally adopted by the 1980 Conference. Please bring this new change to your group.
WSBC Policy 1980b (Amended 2013)
An anonymity statement was adopted: Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of our program, always ensuring principles before personalities. This means that OA itself is not anonymous, but its members are. There are no exceptions. While OA may be publicized, we do not break our individual anonymity at the level of press, radio, films, and television, and all public media of communication, and the recognizable facial exposure of persons identifying as OA members at the level of press, films, and television, and all public media of communication is a violation of our tradition of anonymity, even though the first name only is given or the entire name is withheld.

What is abstinence in Overeaters Anonymous? How can you use the tools of the program to achieve and maintain abstinence?
As part of OA’s strategic plan, the Region Chairs Committee has created this Abstinence PowerPoint presentation to assist your group or service body in exploring the concept of abstinence.
As you prepare to present it, you may find the following literature helpful:
