Unlike other Region 6 committees, the Finance Committee is always chaired by the Region 6 Treasurer, as determined in the Region 6 bylaws. By the same authority, the Region 6 vice chair also serves on the committee. Each month, the Finance committee vice chair — not to be confused with the Region 6 vice chair, mentioned in the previous sentence — reviews all the monthly statements, credit cards, payments, and contributions for accuracy.
Before every fall assembly, the committee helps the treasurer to compile the financial documents that are distributed to each representative attending the assembly. Also in advance of the fall assembly, the Region 6 vice chair, the treasurer, and the vice chair of the finance committee conduct an annual review of the Region’s finances.
For the spring assembly, the committee helps the treasurer prepare a budget for the following year.
