Trustees elected

Owing to rotation of service and other factors, 10 vacancies out of 17 positions existed on the Board of Trustees as delegates gathered for the conference. Six candidates stood for election, and all were elected.

One of the vacancies materialized because Beth B., Region 6 trustee, reached the end of her term and chose not to seek another. She served 6 years. She was appointed to an open seat, elected to fill the remainder of that term, and then was elected to a full term.

One of the six candidates, Bob F. of Toronto, had been affirmed as a candidate by the Region 6 Assembly in the fall. He has a long history of service as a trustee, and was already on the board, having been appointed last year; he has been Region 10 liaison. Bob received 165 votes on 179 ballots cast. Others elected:

Susan M., Croydon, NSW, Australia174
Laurie O., Virginia, elected (previously appointed)168
Cindy C., Washington, elected (previously appointed)162
Cyndy L., Missouri, reelected161
Emilia I., Rome, Italy, reelected160

Until a couple of years ago, one would run for, say, Region 6 trustee, specifically. There also were general service trustees. Now, all trustees are only trustees, and then are assigned to various jobs, including a liaisons to the 10 regions.

The chair has made clear that if a trustee is elected after having been affirmed by a region, that trustee will very likely be assigned to that region. Regions that don’t reaffirm a candidate are likely to have a trustee assigned to them who does not live in that region.
